These container shops seamlessly blend contemporary design aesthetics with the cultural essence of the mountain city, becoming a new must-visit attraction in the scenic area.

These container shops seamlessly blend contemporary design aesthetics with the cultural essence of the mountain city, becoming a new must-visit attraction in the area.
Hongyadong is a landmark attraction in Chongqing, with a high daily visitor volume, which places stringent demands on the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and construction timeline of its commercial facilities. Drawing on the scenic area’s overall style, Farrell’s design team crafted a distinctive exterior scheme for the shops—featuring curved glass curtain walls, signature coatings, and an illuminated nighttime lighting system. Internally, the layout is flexibly configured to suit various business formats, accommodating diverse commercial settings such as dining, retail, and cultural‑creative experiences.
“The container‑based commercial street not only can be rapidly deployed but also boasts portability and reusability, making it ideally suited to the flexible operational needs of cultural and tourism destinations,” said the project leader. The project was completed—from design to delivery—in just 45 days, earning high praise from both the scenic‑area management and the tenant merchants.
